New Health Data on Alberta's Cattle Herd

From the Nov 23, 2006 Broadcast of Call of the LandCall of the Land Home

Alberta Agriculture now has timely access to the health data of Alberta’s cattle through a new data-sharing system called Veterinary Practice Surveillance. Dr. Jagdish Patel, Surveillance Veterinarian, stopped by the studio to fill us in on this system, the data that is produced, and how that data will be used.

Interview with Dr. Jagdish Patel (2:28 minutes) (603 Kb)

Dr. Patel says if there is a problem that is detected that could impact market access, steps can be taken that much sooner to minimize any impact on the industry.
