Mission Statement

The Ministry's Trade Policy section deals with domestic and international trade and investment agreements, negotiations and disputes affecting Albertans. It pursues policies that meet Alberta's objectives of reducing trade and investment barriers.

The Trade Policy section provides expertise, advice and guidance on agreements, such as the Agreement on Internal Trade, the North American Free Trade Agreement, and those developed through the World Trade Organization. These agreements and negotiations cover trade in goods, agriculture, services, investment, technical barriers and other rules of general application, including dispute settlement.
