Located 50 km north of Edmonton on Highway 651, Legal is a prime agricultural region. Legal has witnessed remarkable growth in the past decade. Town councillors here are justifiably optimistic over the future of Legal, forecasting "more continued, steady growth" for the Town, based on the stability of the agricultural sector and the alternative lifestyle to Edmonton that is available.

The Town of Legal has 2 schools for local children in the area. Legal School offers
education for children K-9 and the Ecole Citadelle offers a french curriculm for children K-9. The English students then would attend Morinville Community High 10 minutes south on highway 2. The town is full of heritage having added murals around town depicting it's rich heritage. Despite the changes and growth Legal has seen it's still large in it's francophone roots.
