Area Overview

The Village of Mannville is a unique, rural Albertan community situated one hour and twenty minutes east of Edmonton, on the Trans Canada Highway 16. It is a very clean, pleasant and a safe place to live, with available amenities that provide an excellent quality of life.

Mannville was named after J.D. Mann, a contractor for the Canadian Northern Railway. The site of the village was originally located 2 miles west of the present site and was moved in 1906. The first settlers to arrive in the area in 1899 travelled from Edmonton by oxen. In 1906 Mannville was incorporated as a village.

Recreation

Local recreational facilities include a Riverview Golf Course [nine hole grass green complete with campground amenities], a curling rink, arena, community hall and 6 ball diamonds. There are also 2 nightclubs in Mannville.

The area surrounding Mannville sports excellent trophy game hunting. Some of the best hunting in Alberta is found in the area, including large game such as deer and moose, and plentiful small game in ducks and geese.

Location

The Village of Mannville is located in the County of Minburn #27, on the Trans Canada Highway 16 [Yellowhead Highway]. It is 24 km west of Vermilion and 80 km west of Lloydminster.

Post Secondary Education

Lakeland College is located in Vermilion and offers more than 20 career programs. It has become a major centre for Agricultural and Apprenticeship Training programs, as well as offering training in Health & Human Services, the Liberal Arts, Business Administration, and Environmental Sciences.
