Accounts Payable Clerk

Role Description

An Administrative Support 2 employee performs various tasks which may include:

  • maintaining files
  • updating manuals
  • routine typing; assisting in the processing of accounts payable and/or receivable
  • distributing supplies
  • assisting in purchasing and/or records management
  • may provide orientation to co-workers
Administrative Skills Required
  • working knowledge of general office procedures, regulations and policies governing their work area

  • keyboarding skills

  • working knowledge of standard office equipment and a working knowledge of organizational practices and standards

Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma.

  • Equivalency: Directly related experience considered on the basis of one year of experience for one year of education.

Administrative Support 3 - Job Profile

Role Description

An Administrative Support 3 employee does moderately complex administrative services work.  Employees perform tasks which may include:

  • assisting in the reconciliation of accounts payable/receivable
  • providing information and explanation of routine administrative policies and procedures
  • maintaining filing, records and inventory control systems

Employees may have lead hand or junior level supervisory responsibilities.

Administrative Skills Required
  • full working knowledge of general office procedures, applicable legislation, regulations, and policies/procedures

  • reviewing accounts payable and/or receivable
  • assisting in compiling information for budget preparation
  • providing information and explanation of administrative policies and procedures
  • assisting in the development and implementation of filing and records systems and inventory control procedures
  • processing of invoices and expense accounts; and/or
  • supervising employees performing similar duties of lesser complexity
