Role Description Administration 1 positions assist in the direction of a multi-faceted administrative operation or administer a specialized support program.  Positions in this class are seen as being either administrative professionals or professionals in an administrative specialty.
Administrative Skills Required

Administration 1 positions assisting in the direction of a multi-faceted administrative support operation require:

  • an understanding of the objectives of the organization

  • sound knowledge of departmental regulations

  • sound knowledge of policies and practices in budget, purchasing, expenditure control, personnel and other specialized administrative support systems

Administration 1 positions administering a specialized support program require a complete knowledge of the subject area.  This would include specific knowledge of related legislation as well as a broad knowledge of government policies and regulations relevant to the area.

Role Description Administration 2 positions assist in the direction of a large multi-faceted administration operation or supervise the administration of a specialized support program where the primary emphasis is on the administration of the program, and secondary emphasis is on the administrative specialty.
Administrative Skills Required
  • an understanding of the objectives of the department

  • sound knowledge of the objectives, functions, policies and regulations pertaining to the program(s) supported by the supervised administrative unit

  • sound knowledge of government procedures and practices in the fields of personnel, budget and accounting in order to maintain program operations

  • positions supervising the administration of a specialized support program will also require a complete knowledge of the subject area including related legislation, policies and regulations
