Alberta Lottery Fund

Under the provisions of the Gaming and Liquor Act, the AGLC administers the Alberta Lottery Fund, which is made up of the government's share of net revenues from VLTs, slot machines, and ticket lotteries. Each year, the Alberta Lottery fund grants more than $1 billion to support thousands of volunteer, public and community-based initiatives.

AADAC

The Alberta Lottery Fund fully finances AADAC’s addiction treatment programs and services.

Tobacco

The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission enforces certain aspects of the Tobacco Tax Act under a Memorandum of Understanding with Alberta Finance who administers the Act. The AGLC’s Tobacco Enforcement Unit enjoys a close collaborative working partnership with Alberta Finance to minimize leakage of potential tax revenue.

To combat smuggling and other abuses, the Unit increased its resources and developed partnerships with:

  • AADAC
