New Casino Facilities
The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission has developed casino-licensing policies in response to policy direction made from the Gaming Licensing Policy Review. The following links highlight the key points of the policies:
Under the provisions of the Gaming and Liquor Act and the Gaming and Liquor Regulation, the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) is responsible for approving and licensing new casino facilities, casino expansions or major casino relocations. There are two distinct types of casino facilities: a traditional casino facility; or a First Nations casino facility as defined by the First Nations Gaming policy.
The process to consider proposals or interest in developing new casinos, major casino expansions or relocations is initiated by interested third parties and managed by the AGLC.
