"The recommendations contained in the Tax Review Committee report are not government recommendations. They are recommendations to the government and will be considered by MLAs as part of the government’s long-term planning process."

Treasurer receives Tax Review Committee’s recommendations

The Alberta Tax Review Committee presented their final report today to Provincial Treasurer Stockwell Day. The Treasurer stated that the report will be reviewed and discussed through the government’s usual forms of deliberation, including Standing Policy Committee’s and the three-year business planning process.

"I appreciate the committees hard work, particularly their suggestion that any changes to the tax system would have to be sustainable and that the province cannot forgo revenues that are used to support essential programs and services," Day said. "Taken in that light, it is only appropriate that we take the necessary time to review the report."
