Call of the Land Calendar for December 5, 2006

 And on our Call of the Land Calendar....All producers are invited to attend an industry breakfast meeting of the Alberta Winter Wheat Producers Commission tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. at the Fireside Room of the Medicine Hat Exhibition. Come hear an update on marketing and production issues and participate in an open discussion on matters related to the winter wheat industry. Call 403-328-0059 for more information, or stop by the Commission’s booth at the Reduced Tillage Conference.

Bfuel Canada is hosting drop-in/information sessions for producers and landowners interested in supplying oilseed crops for a proposed crusher and biodiesel refining facility to be located in southern Alberta. Topics include: opportunities and benefits for the producers working with Bfuel Canada, new generation co-op and industry partnership structuring, benefits of biodiesel and everyday use, off grid energy generation and storage systems for farm use, OnFarm Energy Audit Program, and the southern Alberta Alternative Energy Partnership. Meetings will be held in Taber and Claresholm. The Taber meeting is tomorrow from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Parkside Manor Senior Centre. There’s an Environmental Farm Plan workshop in Sherwood Park on Thursday, with part two the following Thursday. Contact Gladys Wachowich at 780-942-4168 for more information.

Farm Credit Canada is sponsoring a Farm Management: Profitability and Budgeting Seminar in Grande Prairie on Friday. The course is geared to producers wanting to improve their ability to better analyze their farming operation and improve overall financial decision-making. Call the Grande Prairie FCC office at 780-532-4790 to register or for more information.

And next week there’s a Winter Feeding, Watering and Fencing Tour taking place on Thursday, leaving from the Wildwood Community Hall. The cost is $10 per person and that does include lunch. You must register to reserve a seat on the bus, by calling the West Central Forage Association at 1-866-725-4447.
