The Premier’s Task Force on Crystal Meth is holding province-wide consultations on the abuse of crystal meth and other forms of methamphetamine.
The general public is being asked to provide their thoughts on the issue of crystal meth and methamphetamines. Albertans can provide their input online, and all feedback provided to the site will be kept confidential. The deadline to respond is July 1, 2006.
The task force also is consulting with a number of specific groups, including:
- law enforcement — to better understand the issues surrounding crystal meth and methamphetamines
- youth — to understand their perspectives on availability, treatment, and prevention
- aboriginal people — to learn about the impact of the drug on their community
- healing — to seek best practices and holistic solutions that treat, prevent, and heal
- industry — to understand the impact of crystal meth and methamphetamines in the workplace
- communities — to gain an understanding of what is required to build support structures
The Premier’s Task Force on Crystal Meth was created in October 2005. It will oversee the development of a province-wide, holistic strategy to find solutions to stop the abuse and negative impacts of crystal meth and methamphetamines on Alberta families and young people, communities, and workplaces.
