| | The municipalities of Clear Hills, Fairview and Peace (CHFP), through the Alberta Environmentally Sustainable Agriculture (AESA) program, will be co-hosting the Powering the Peace conference December 1-2, 2006, at the NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) Fairview campus. The other host of the event is the Fairview Agricultural Society.
“The focus of the conference is on biodiesel and our vision of empowering the Peace by powering it with this resource,” says Gerard Aldridge, rural extension specialist, CHFP AESA Farm Based Extension Program Partnership, Fairview. “But, with speakers participating from across North America, there will be lots of valuable information for a wide range of participants.”
Speakers include:
- Lyle Estill, author of the book, Biodiesel Power and vice-president of Piedmont Biofuels in Chatham County, North Carolina, who will relate his own experiences and insights on making biodiesel available and affordable
- Dr. Goran Jovanovic, professor of Chemical Engineering at Oregon State University, who will detail his institution’s cutting-edge research on the use of microtechnology in making biodiesel as a vehicle in the development of “distributed energy production”
“The slate of speakers will also include manufacturers and distributors of biodiesel processing units, a major Saskatchewan based producer, and some newly established Peace Country biodiesel producers,’ says Aldridge.
“We’ll also have a conference component on managing fleets on biodiesel.”
