C-N Rail Opens a New Grain Container Facility in Edmonton

From the Nov 20, 2006 Issue of Call of the LandCall of the Land Home

C-N Rail has opened a new four-million-dollar grain container facility in Edmonton. The new facility makes it more cost-effective for specialty crop growers to ship high value grain in containers to overseas customers. Previously, farmers shipped their crop in covered hopper cars to Vancouver, where they were emptied and the grain transferred into containers. The stuffed containers were trucked dockside for loading onto ships. Now, these specialty crops can be trucked or railed to Edmonton for container loading.
