AFMA Looking for Nominations

 Alberta Farmers’ Market Association (AFMA) is looking for nominations for the Farmers’ Market Manager of the Year award. To nominate a farmers’ market manager, a completed form and two letters of recommendation from AFMA members must be received by December 1, 2006. A panel of judges will review the submissions and make a final selection. The winner will be notified by letter, and the award will be presented during the Awards lunch at the AFMA Annual Conference being held in Nisku on January 24 and 25, 2007. Nomination criteria:
  • nominee must be a member of the AFMA
  • the market is a current member of AFMA
  • nominee has been a market manager for at least two years
  • has proven growth of the farmers’ market through creativity and innovation
  • is a dedicated professional who promotes the value of farming and farm direct
  • is a leader and mentor to vendors
  • provides a vision for the market and has the ability to make the vision a reality
  • contributes to the farmers’ market industry locally, regionally, provincially
  • supports further education for the staff and vendors of the market
  • strives for self-improvement through educational opportunities
  • has successfully integrated the farmer’s market into the community
  • promotes and complies with the standards of excellence of Alberta Approved Farmers’ Markets
