All employees of Alberta Public Service are welcome to access the Employee
Assistance Program on behalf of themselves or immediate family members to
receive assessment, short term counselling and referral for emotional or
personal concerns. There is no fee for the EAP service and it is strictly
confidential.
Visitors are also reminded to contact

extensive listing of other Government of Alberta programs and services.
The following community information is provided in response to frequently asked
questions about community resources. Funded agencies often provide service to
the general public at no fee. Any of these services can be accessed directly:

The following agencies provide multiple programs, including courses and
counselling, aimed at fostering healthy families and communities. Fees are
charged on a sliding scale.
Rural Resources:
The Employee Assistance Program is able to provide initial consultation by
phone in areas outside of Edmonton and Calgary. However, no face-to-face
counselling is offered. Face-to-face counselling is available through local
Mental Health Clinics throughout the province. For more information about
counselling resources in a specific area of the province, please refer to the
Alberta Mental Health Board
or call The AMHB Help Line at 1-877-303-AMHB (2642).
Family and Community Support Services (FCSS):
Counselling services are also available in various communities throughout the
province through Family and Community Support Services (FCSS). Please
consult your local telephone directory for office locations and contact numbers.
Private Practice Psychologists:
Private practice psychologists are situated throughout the province and provide
counselling services. These professionals typically charge a fee. Clients are
responsible for covering the costs counselling with a private practice
psychologist whether they access the service independently or through a
referral. A portion of the fee may be recovered through Blue Cross Extended
Health benefits or other family benefits where applicable (Note: please check
your benefit package to determine your coverage).
