The Research and Evidence Branch is to provide leadership and support to Alberta Health and Wellness (and the broader health system) in the generation and use of health and health-system evidence to inform policy development and decision-making. The Research and Evidence Branch’s overarching goals are to:
- Improve access to our administrative health data sets and build richer health data repositories
- Build strategically coordinated active partnerships with organizations who use our data sets to produce needed health knowledge
- Facilitate exchange/translation of health knowledge among appropriate audiences
Health research includes four pillars: biomedical, clinical, population health and health services. Alberta’s health research community is supported by funding from many sources. Health research sponsors include federal and provincial government and agencies, private industry, Alberta universities, and not-for-profit organizations.
