This program is funded by energy company levies paid to the Alberta Energy and Utility Board and allows a rural landowner an opportunity to have their water source, which they believe damaged by energy related activities, to be considered for repair or replacement costs.
Before any application can be submitted under this program, the applicant must endeavour to contact the geophysical or oil company to attempt settlement of alleged damages.
The program is designed to make partial or full payment only on those direct costs that have been incurred with the restoration or replacement of a water well. Therefore, the applicant must include all receipts for works completed with the application.
All payments awarded under this program are of a gratutious nature and are not made under any legal obligation or statuatory requirement. Consequently, the decisions following from this program are final and not subject to appeal.
