A two-day sheep shearing course with instructor Dave Carlson is being held near Blackie, Alberta, on July 22 and 23, 2006. There will also be instruction on fleece preparation. The course is limited to 12 students, on a first-come, first-served basis. Equipment will be provided, but students who have their own shearing equipment are encouraged to bring it, as that will make additional advice and more practice possible. Course cost is $169.60 ($160 plus GST) for all tuition, equipment use and lunch both days. To register, call the Alberta Sheep and Wool Commission (ASWC) office at (403) 948-8533, toll free by dialling 310-0000 first. Send cheques to ASWC, Agriculture Centre, 97 East Lake Ramp, Airdrie, AB T4A 0C3. For further information call the office or e-mail.
