Canada at the Paris Air Show 2005On June 13-19, 2005, Trade Team Canada - Aerospace and Defence participated in the 46th International Paris Air Show Le Bourget, the premier international aerospace trade fair and exhibition. Canada's official delegation was led by Industry Canada Deputy Minister, Ms. Suzanne Hurtubise and included the Chief of Staff to Minister Emerson, Mr. Bill Varvaris, the Deputy Minister of Transport Canada, Mr. Louis Ranger, and the Canadian Ambassador to France, Mr. Claude Laverdure. This year's event featured 238 aircraft, hosted 1,926 exhibitors from 41 countries, and attracted approximately 500,000 visitors. Canada's substantial participation included approximately 100 Canadian companies as well as representatives from 11 federal departments and agencies, 7 provinces, 1 territory, and 11 national or provincial aerospace-related associations. The federal program included the Canadian Pavilion, a reception for more than 700 attendees, networking events, industry briefings, trade and investment promotion activities, and a market information and intelligence program (MI&I). Trade Team Canada - Aerospace and Defence has now begun preparations for the 2006 Farnborough International Airshow, which will take place July 17-23, 2006. This event, which hosted 1,360 exhibiting companies and attracted approximately 250,000 visitors in 2004, provides Canadian aerospace, defence and space industries with an unsurpassed opportunity to meet buyers, partners, and other key contacts.
