Members of the Tribunal

Members of the Tribunal are appointed by the Governor in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Labour, in consultation with the Minister of Canadian Heritage.

The Tribunal is composed of a Chairperson and a Vice-chairperson and not less than two or more than four other full-time or part-time members. The members are appointed for fixed terms of up to seven years for the Chairperson, up to five years in the case of the Vice-chairperson or any full-time member and up to three years in the case of any other member. Each member is eligible for re-appointment.

The Chairperson is the chief executive officer of the Tribunal and is responsible for management of the staff and supervision of the work of the Tribunal, including the allocation of work among its members and the assignment of members to preside at hearings.
