Canada has developed an international reputation as a leader in the application of information and communication technology (ICT). Canada is committed to sharing its ICT capabilities worldwide, and has been able to assist other countries by sharing its expertise, capabilities, experiences and lessons learned.

CFS is a world class “best practice” of a national refurbishing program, attracting considerable international attention. CFS has hosted numerous international delegations seeking Canadian expertise to replicate the program in their own countries. CFS has helped implement similar programs in Colombia http://www.computadoresparaeducar.gov.co and Kenya http://www.cfsk.org, and is now assisting other South American and in African countries.

Other countries that have approached Canada and learned from CFS experiences include Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Jamaica, Jordan, South Africa, Nigeria, Uganda, Angola, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Mauritius, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Jordan, Australia, the Netherlands, Slovakia and many other countries.

Recently, CFS has facilitated knowledge transfer for South America and the Caribbean region through three regional workshops in Argentina (2004), Nicaragua (2004), and Jamaica (2005). These workshops have been instrumental in the development of “Computers for Communities” initiative http://www.cpc-cfc.net/  developed and organized by Industry Canada in conjunction with the Organization of American States (OAS), Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), and the Institute for Connectivity in the Americas (ICA).
