Canadians Speak on Innovation and Learning

Canadians Speak on Innovation and Learning is a summary of the views put forward by participants. The input provided plays a major role in the deliberations of the National Summit on Innovation and Learning.

Documents Issued at the National Summit on Innovation and Learning

At the conclusion of the National Summit on Innovation and Learning participants received an information package summarizing the proceedings and the immediate steps being taken by the Government of Canada to improve Canada's innovation and learning performance.

Summit participants, in breakout sessions, reviewed and priorized recommendations that were discussed during the engagement process. Each of the five working groups presented their observations, recommendations and implementation strategy to the plenary session.

Discussion Guide

The Discussion Guide is designed to stimulate discussion at the National Summit on Innovation and Learning. It has been laid out to enable participants to work through the large number of recommended actions associated with key priority issues.

Innovation Map

The objectives of the Innovation Map were to create an inventory of existing programs and to determine the role of private sector associations in support of the goals and challenges identified in Canada’s Innovation Strategy. The Innovation Map presents the results of discussions with 162 associations of varying sizes and from a broad cross section of industries and regions.

Foreign Investment Restrictions Applicable to Telecommunications Common Carriers

The Government of Canada is interested in better understanding how the telecommunications foreign investment restrictions are affecting the telecommunication industry. This document gives background on these provisions, describes the approaches adopted in the other countries and poses a number of questions for consideration.

This discussion document is designed to seek views and to ensure that an appropriate balance in Canada's policy objectives continues to be achieved.
