What is a Web profile?

A Web profile is a group of one or more ALS accounts owned and administered by one company. Within the Web profile, a master user account and user accounts are defined to allow the company's employees to log in to the Spectrum Direct site to view and edit information for those ALS accounts.

The Web profile is based on a master user account. The master user account provides complete access to create, view, and submit information for all ALS accounts in the Web profile. As well, the master user account is used to maintain the Web profile, by maintaining other user accounts and associating ALS accounts with the Web profile.

The master user account can create other user accounts within the Web profile. These other user accounts do not have the same permissions as the master user account:

  • Only the master user account can create and delete other user accounts, and attach or remove other ALS accounts from the Web profile.
  • When working with licence applications, the master user account can view and edit any application created by a user in the Web profile. Other user accounts can access only their own licence applications - they cannot view or edit applications created by other users.

User accounts can also be granted or denied permission to submit licence applications.

If a company has more than one ALS account, the master user account can be used to add other ALS accounts to the Web profile. (Alternatively, the company could create new Web profiles and master user accounts for the other ALS accounts. For a more detailed discussion, see Planning for Multiple Web Profiles.) Each user account in a Web profile has access to view information and create applications for all accounts associated with the Web profile.

You do not need to log in to create a Web profile. However, for security reasons, you will need a valid invoice for the ALS account you wish to attach to the new Web profile.

If you log in using the master user account, use the Web Profile Utilities to maintain the master user account and the Web profile. If you log in using another user account, you can view information about your account.
