Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible* for their services and programs, a business must:

• be 50% owned by a woman or women 18 years of age or older;
• have its operations controlled at least 51% by a woman or women;
• have a complete and current business plan; and
• have an equity contribution by the owner of 10-25% of the total debt of the business.

• business start-up; and
• business expansion.
  

Summary

The AWE is a proud member of the Western Canada's Business Service Network, an initiative of Western Economic Diversification Canada. It is a  non-profit organization led by an independent Board of Directors.

More specific type of services provided include:

• linking women to business resources, business planning, business information, funding sources, business networks and organizations, volunteer experts and other women in business;
• information sessions, confidential one-on-one business coaching, business planning guidance;
  loan fund program; and
• networking forums for women in business and membership groups for established business owners.

*Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee loan approval.
