Did you know? ...

538 projects have been announced to date with a total federal-provincial investment of up to $1,356,286,312.

For more information go to the What's New page.
As we announced on August 11, 2005, the Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Program deadline for completing projects has been extended to March 31, 2008.

This measure will allow municipalities that require more time to complete their COIP projects to apply for an extension. This extension does not include additional funding.

A letter from COIP Management Committee Co-chairs has been sent to municipalities outlining the extension application process as well as the timelines.

Click here to view the letters.

Municipalities requiring an extension must submit a request in writing for consideration by October 14, 2005. When requesting extensions, municipalities must provide the following details:

1)Date to which the extension is required;
2)Rationale explaining why the extension is required; and
3)Revised projected cash flow and timelines for the submission of payment claims.

The Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Program represents an eight-year, $680.7-million federal investment in partnership with Ontario, its local governments, and the private sector. The program’s purpose is to invest in urban and rural municipal infrastructure in Ontario; it is expected to stimulate more than $2 billion in capital investment.

The Program was outlined in the 1999 Speech from the Throne and announced in the February 2000 federal Budget.

The Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Agreement was signed on October 20, 2000. It represents a new vision of 21st-century infrastructure aimed at improving the quality of life for the people of Ontario and making a long-term contribution towards a dynamic and innovative economy.

This Web site is a communications tool hosted by Industry Canada as part of its mandate to implement the Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Program on behalf of the Government of Canada.
