Canada's Campus Connection

Canada's Campus Connection, established in collaboration with the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada and the Association of Canadian Community Colleges, promotes online credit courses from over 75 institutions to learners in Canada and abroad. Computers for Schools (CFS)

Computers for Schools (CFS) is a national, federal government-led program that operates in cooperation with all provinces and territories, the private and volunteer sectors. The program collects, repairs and refurbishes donated surplus computers from government and private sector sources and distributes them to public schools, libraries and not-for-profit learning organizations throughout Canada.

EduSpecs

Industry Canada's EduSpecs Initiative is Canada's contribution to international efforts to develop common technical specifications and standards for e-learning. The underlying vision is to provide Canadians with universal access to quality online education and training resources to support their individual and collective learning needs and interests. Activities under EduSpecs include representing Canada on international e-learning bodies, ensuring that information on specifications and standards is available to Canada's e-learning community, conducting research in the area of e-learning standards and specifications, and encouraging application of specifications and standards within the Canadian e-learning community.

Prime Minister's Award for Teaching Excellence (PMA)

The Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence recognize the efforts of outstanding teachers who have excelled in innovative teaching practices, have demonstrated commitment and leadership and have contributed to the development of student skills, participation and performance. The site provides guidelines for nominations, details of previous award recipients and information on best practices in teaching.

Finding a Job

CAP Youth Initiative (YI)

The Community Access Program (CAP) Youth Initiative (YI) is coordinated by Industry Canada's Community Access Program and is funded through Human Resources and Social Development Canada's Youth Employment Strategy (YES). CAP's youth initiative aims to provide employment opportunities for young Canadians between the ages of 15 and 30 — primarily students, recent graduates, or the under-employed or unemployed. CAP YI participants work as interns at CAP centres on activities such as delivering Internet training sessions, developing websites and drafting publicity materials to improve knowledge of the Internet and related information technologies across Canada. Apply online to participate in the program, as an intern or as a hosting organization, and access valuable tools and resources from the site.

Federal Economic Development Initiative for Northern and rural Ontario (FedNor) — Youth Internships

FedNor designed its Youth Internship Program as a way to complement the federal government's Youth Employment Strategy and at the same time continue to support business oriented, not-for-profit organizations in their efforts to create a positive environment for the growth of small business. The Initiative will do this by providing recent post-secondary graduates with meaningful work experiences in not-for profit organizations who carry out community economic development activities and/or provide support services, information and skills training to entrepreneurs and small businesses across Northern Ontario.

Industry Canada — Jobs

Whether you are a student or an experienced professional, the Jobs section of the Industry Canada departmental site contains details of various employment programs in the Public Service. Check the Student and Internship Programs section for information on such programs as the Co-op Education and Internship Program, Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP), and the HRDC Summer Student Job Action.

Student Connections (SC)

Since 1996, Student Connections has hired post-secondary students to provide small and medium-sized Canadian businesses with on-site customized Internet and e-commerce training. In addition to E-Commerce First Step services and Internet training for business, this initiative also offers presentations to business groups and Internet training for seniors. Visit the site to find out more about Student Connections, to register for training, and to learn more about youth employment opportunities.

Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Canada — Student Budget

The Student Budget section of the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Canada website contains information on personal financial management for post-secondary students. It provides tips on expenses and on how to save money, links to some useful websites, and an online Student Budget chart that you can download and fill in.
