 Broadband Marketplace
 Home > Broadband Marketplace

The Broadband Marketplace is a place where community champions can find help developing and/or implementing their broadband business plans, and post Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for the provision of broadband services in their communities. Service Provider companies can register to receive automatic notifications when RFPs are posted, and can also post notices of their own describing their experience and capabilities to assist communities with broadband projects.

The Broadband Marketplace site is hosted by SourceCAN, a FREE e-procurement business gateway site supported by the federal government, in partnership with the private sector.

Communities

The Broadband Marketplace site is an area to post notices, define projects and describe the expertise and assistance required from third-party sources to develop and/or implement their business plans. Communities can also review profiles posted on the Broadband Marketplace, as a means of locating Service and Equipment Providers who may be of assistance to them.

If you are representing a community or group of communities as the "community champion", you may post an RFP for the deployment of broadband infrastructure and the delivery of broadband services. Communities that received funding from Industry Canada's Broadband Program to develop business plans are required to post RFPs on this site. Other community champions may also take advantage of this site.

Service and Equipment Provider Companies

The Broadband Marketplace is a tool to create and submit profiles of their experience and capabilities in assisting Communities with Broadband projects. Service and Equipment Providers may also review community notices posted on the Broadband Marketplace, as a means of locating Communities to whom their expertise may be of value.

If you are a Service and Equipment Provider company that would like to participate in the Broadband Marketplace service, you can establish your capabilities and expertise by creating a Service and Equipment Provider's profile. This profile provides summary information about the services that you offer and your interest in creating partnerships with communities across Canada. The profiles are grouped by various capabilities, as well as defined by Canadian geographical regions where your services are available. You can update this information at any time. Click on Post a Company Description to create your Service and Equipment Provider company profile. By posting a company description, companies will automatically receive notification whenever a community champion posts an RFP in the Marketplace.

Users of this site will be required to obtain a Strategis/SourceCAN login name -- this is done by a simple registration process on the SourceCAN Web site. Note that SourceCAN is a secure site, therefore if you are registering as a service provider you will be able to search community notices, however you will not be able to post a notice until your registration has been verified by SourceCAN. This process should be completed within 3 to 5 business days.

As a Service and Equipment Provider company registered as a SourceCAN member, you will:

  • get a single registration point to gain access to the world marketplace,
  • be able to market your products and services both domestically and globally,
  • be given online resources to establish the e-commerce portion of your business
  • be exposed to thousands of business opportunities daily from around the globe.
