Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami ITK: Inuktitut Syllabics

Inuktitut Magazine
Giving Voice to the Inuit Experience

Inuktitut MagazineInuktitut magazine is over 40 years young. Its publishing history spans a remarkable time in the development of Inuit in Canada. As the new millennium dawns, Inuktitu has a bold new design, in full colour throughout, and will include advertising and increase its distribution across the Arctic using householder mailing. Pick it up at the post office!

Inuktitut's reinvention presents the heritage of Inuit culture, language and society in a modern format. The publication is now produced by the communications department of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami in collaboration with Beat Studios, and is funded by Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.

It is good to be writing again in a magazine for Inuit. I wrote for 10 years while at Makivik Corporation in Makivik News, and then Makivik Magazine. This role is as a custodian of something very special. Inuktitut magazine essentially belongs to the Inuit of Canada, to readers young and old. Your thoughts and experiences in written form, illustrations, and photographs are welcome.
