As part of an action plan to improve the quality of water in First Nations communities, the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, in collaboration with the Assembly of First Nations, has named an independent expert panel to advise on options for water quality regulation.
This summer, the panel will hold informal hearings across Canada to gather information from First Nations and other interested parties. Consult the schedule of hearings, learn how to get involved, and read the panel's scope of work.
The panel has been mandated to present an interim report to the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada by August 31, 2006. The final report will be released in the fall.
