Patrick Marshall
CEO, Ocean Industries British Columbia

Patrick Marshall is the recently appointed Chief Executive Officer for Ocean Industries British Columbia and brings more than 22 years of planning, development and marketing experience to BC’s $11 billion dollar Ocean based economy. As the CEO and an Economic Developer, Mr. Marshall brings considerable experience to the task of building bridges between private and public sector organizations, focused on making responsible investments in ocean development, with organizations that have an eye for clean, safe, secure and compliant operations.

From 1979 to 1986, Mr. Marshall served the City of North York and Metropolitan Toronto, Ontario in various land development and marketing roles, then moved onto the private sector as a Director of Marketing for a strategic real estate marketing design firm. In 1989 he was recruited to the City of Campbell River on Vancouver Island, BC, to lead the economic development team. In 2000, he was the practitioner that established the Campbell River Economic Development Corporation, Rivercorp, a hybrid private/public sector local development company serving the interests of municipal, business, first nations and major employers from Campbell River and Vancouver Island North.

Mr. Marshall has served as a Director for the local, regional, British Columbia and National Economic Development Professional Organizations and currently serves as a Director of Small Business BC, the organization for people thinking, launching and growing their small business, a Canada/BC collaboration. In 2006 her served as Chef de Mission for the largest local trade and development mission of small community leaders from BC to Stavanger, Norway and has led similar missions to Japan and the United States.

Mr. Marshall has the honour of being the recipient of the Economic Developer of the Year 2007 Award from the Economic Development Association of British Columbia, a distinction that he adds to his more than 23 Marketing Canada Awards from the Economic Development Association of Canada.

His most recent appointment is as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Small Business British Columbia. Small Business BC vision is to drive, motivate and inspire entrepreneurial growth and success in small businesses throughout BC. Small Business BC, a public and private sector collaboration, is the comprehensive Business Development Resource for people exploring opportunities, launching new ventures and growing existing businesses.
