Dear CTTC Members and Friends,

For over 60 years the CTTC has run a valued toy testing program. We have been a respected, independent voice for assessment of toy quality and promotion of toys that enhance child development.  We’ve worked with thousands of families and provided children the opportunity to test newly-released toys, games and books. Our program has empowered children and families to be part of the international toy industry and to give their feedback on what makes for great and engaging play. And for decades, our annual toy report has been a trusted resource for families across Canada.

As you are likely aware, the CTTC has been under financial stress for several years now. Over the past year, as part of our efforts to secure operational funding, we engaged an experienced funding consultant who conducted an exhaustive search of opportunities for funding, partnership and support. Members of the Board and other CTTC supporters also pounded the pavement in search of backing that would enable us to keep our doors open and our program running. Unfortunately, our efforts were not successful.

Faced with the reality that we could no longer sustain operations, the CTTC’s Board and our Members voted to dissolve the organization in March of 2015. We understand how disappointing this news will be to many of you; please know that this is not a decision we have taken lightly nor made quickly.

As we work through the dissolution process, we invite you to join us for one last TOY SALE on Saturday April 18 between 10am and 3 pm (see further details below). Your support through the years has been extraordinary. We can’t thank you enough, and we hope you keep learning through play!
