Aboriginal Canada Portal
The Aboriginal Canada Portal is a window to Canadian Aboriginal online resources, contacts, information, and government programs and services. It has a vast amount of information on First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
Aboriginal Languages Poster and Map
The poster From Generation to Generation: Survival and Maintenance of Canada’s Aboriginal Languages, Within Families, Communities and Cities presents recent research findings on Aboriginal languages. It shows the strength of various languages, factors affecting language survival and language characteristics of Aboriginal groups. It also maps the diversity and status of Aboriginal languages across Canada, in Aboriginal communities and cities.

Canada Heirloom Series: Canada’s Native Peoples (English only)
The six-volume Canada Heirloom Series explores the rich history and culture of Canada through articles, essays and photographs. Volume Two explores Native peoples’ heritage, culture and history from east to west. A section on each group describes its geographical location, early forms of government, educational systems, industries and skills, beliefs and mythology. Each section closes with an overview of the group’s position in the world today. The writing is geared to secondary school students. This website has a wide array of information on Aboriginal arts, culture and heritage in Canada.
First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation (English only)
The First Peoples’ Cultural Foundation (FPCF) is a non-political society devoted to Aboriginal languages, arts and cultures. It is an Aboriginal-directed, non-profit group. The website provides detailed information on the Foundation’s programs, grants and awards, including funding criteria and deadlines. One of the major programs, First Voices, focuses on revitalizing languages. The site also offers information on language tools and resources.
Canadian Museum of Civilization
This site contains information on Aboriginal history, art, artifacts, culture and heritage. There is a 30-chapter history of Aboriginal people in Canada, an Inuit 3D museum and a site dedicated to the Haida.
Centre for Traditional Knowledge (English only)
The Centre for Traditional Knowledge encourages sustainable development policy-makers and decision-makers to recognize, understand and use Aboriginal traditional knowledge. This site is a gateway for information on publications, upcoming events and contacts.
Turtle Island Native Network (English only)
The Turtle Island Network is an award-winning news and information network. Its site is rich in information on Aboriginal achievements, culture (traditional and contemporary), languages, stories, education, music, business, and health and wellness, among many topics.

International Sites
Indigenous Language Institute (English only)
The Indigenous Language Institute (ILI) fosters innovative, community-based projects to revitalize languages. It works with other groups and organizations, and promotes public awareness about language preservation. This website has information on ILI’s programs and lists resources for people working to revitalize languages.
The Rosetta Project (English only)
The Long Now Foundation is creating an online survey and a physical archive of 1,000 of the approximately 7,000 languages on the planet. Each language is described using 10 categories. The archive is online but is not yet complete.
Native Languages Revitalization (English only)
The Native Languages Revitalization Resource Directory is a U.S.-based guide designed to serve people working on community-based programs to revitalize languages. It has information on language programs, funding sources, Internet resources, teaching materials and more.
Teaching Indigenous Languages (English only)
This site is filled with information on revitalizing languages. It has more than 97 full-text papers from the Stabilizing Indigenous Languages conferences held from 1997 through 2003. There are also many links to articles, resources and information on revitalizing languages.
