Housing Awards — Best Practices in Affordable Housing

2006What is the Housing Awards Program is about?

CMHC established the Housing Awards Program in 1988 to recognize significant contributions to the advancement of Canadian housing. The Housing Awards are presented every second year. Through the Housing Awards Program, the very best practices in housing are identified and celebrated, and then shared with communities across the country.

How are entries judged?

Entries are  judged by an independent national committee made up of housing industry experts and representatives from business and academia.

The deadline for applications was April 5, 2006.

Winners will receive recognition on the national stage

On November 6,  2006, CMHC will present up to 16 awards to honour the nation's Best Practices in Affordable Housing.

  • Winners of the Housing Awards will receive national recognition for their affordable housing solution.
  • Winners will meet and network with CMHC's partners and housing representatives from across the country.
  • Winners will have the opportunity to promote their award-winning initiatives at housing-related events in their regions, or in other parts of Canada.
