Newfoundland and Labrador
Canadian Association of Independent Living Centres (CAILC)
Independent Living Resource Centres (ILRC)
are run by people with disabilities. These community-based centres promote
full integration and participation of people with all types of disabilities.
Each ILRC provides peer support, individual advocacy, independent living
skills development, research and demonstration as well as consumer-validated
information and referral to anyone who needs assistance. In the case of
a traveller with a disability, a local ILRC could provide information
on accessible hotels, medical equipment rentals, accessible transportation,
contact information for hiring attendants from a service provider and
