- Brock Road Incident Management System - Regional Municipality of Durham
This initiative involves the deployment of ITS subsystems, and the integration of these systems and existing systems to complete an arterial-based incident management system.
- Central Waterloo Transportation Demand Management Initiative - A Pilot Project to Reduce Single Occupant Vehicle Travel in the Region of Waterloo - Regional Municipality of Waterloo
This project is a unique partnership of public and private sector interests aimed at implementing, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of employer-based Transportation Demand Management initiatives.
- Corridor Traffic Management System (CTMS) - Region of York
The objective of this project is to implement a Pilot Traffic Responsive Control (TRC) System for a selected freeway/arterial roadway corridor in the Region of York. For the selected corridor, the System should be capable of initiating appropriate signal timing plans (selected automatically from among a predetermined library of timing plans), for the arterial(s) in the corridor, that match with the field traffic conditions as registered from a system of detectors.
- Deployment of Intelligent Transit Vehicle Subsystem - Ottawa
The first major component of Transit Services move to adopt the ITS architecture is an Intelligent Transit Vehicle Subsystem, to enhance vehicle tracking and schedule adherence. This project will be implemented in three (3) phases over a two-year period, commencing late
2002.
- Development of an ITS Strategic Plan for the GTA - GTA/Hamilton
The GTSB ITS Strategic Plan will be most effective where it can build linkages into continuing efforts made by the provincial and municipal governments to implement an ITS standard in our area, and develop a synergistic and integrated approach which
maximizes the investment return and the benefits achieved by the leveraging of related efforts by others.
- Establishment of a Toronto Area Centre-to-Centre Network - Toronto
The project will entail the design, development and deployment of a centre-to-centre data exchange network for exchanging and sharing key information between existing Toronto Traffic Operations Centres.
- Integrated Mobility Systems: A Multi-Modal Multi-Application Smart Card Initiative for Canada - National Consortium, led by Moving the Economy, City of Toronto
Led by Moving the Economy, the IMS Project is the first coordinated effort of its kind in Canada to explore the deployment of mutli-modal multi-application smart cards. The intent of Integrated Mobility Systems is to access and link a wide range of urban and inter-city transportation modes, tourist and other urban services using smart card technology as an enabling tool.
- Integrated Traffic Signal Control and Bus Priority System - City of Peterborough (Ontario)
This project includes the design and pilot partial deployment of an Integrated Traffic Signal Control (TSC) and Bus Traffic Signal Priority System.
- Multi-Agency Use of the GO Transit Smart Card - Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
This project is intended to establish the framework for the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) implementation of regional transit smartcard fare collection system based on the new GO Transit electronic fare collection initiative.
- Rail Operations Information System - Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) systems can provide alerts when the train is stopped or running late. This system will allow rail operations staff to better detect delays and assist in making decisions to restore the scheduled service.
- Road Access and Disruption Management Program (ROADMAP) - Toronto
This initiative involves the design and implementation of a Road Access and Disruption Management Program (ROADMAP) System to manage disruptions to the arterial and expressway road network in the City of Toronto. The ROADMAP system will be located and operated from the City of Toronto’s Traffic Management Centre It will use remote data collection and communication devices to gather data on road network disruptions.
- Transit Priority System Integration And Deployment Initiative - Ontario - Regional Municipality of York
This study and initial deployment is very much in line with the same sort of studies and TPS demonstrations conducted by the former Metropolitan Toronto and the Toronto Transit Commission in the 1990’s. York Region, in light of their recent amalgamation of Transit authorities within the Region into a single organization in January 2001, is very much interested in how they may continue to improve their transit operation for all the residents in the region.
