Arrival And Check-In

  • The sliding doors at the entrances of the Departures and Arrivals areas are equipped with motion detectors.
  • A third door at the Arrivals area is kept open until all passengers have entered the Airport Terminal Building.
  • The check-in counters have openings which make it conducive to serving people who have a mobility impairment.
  • Designated wheelchair parking spots are at close proximity to the Airport Terminal Building in both the short-term and long-term parking lots.
  • Curb cuts make all crosswalks and sidewalks wheelchair accessible.

Personal Assistance

  • Airport staff who serve the public in the Airport Terminal Building must complete the Training for Dealing with People with Disabilities.
  • Commissionnaire (airport security) staff will provide assistance to any person using the airport facilities.

TTY Phones

  • The Airport Terminal Building is equipped with two TTY telephones. One is available at an accommodations advertising board with hotel listings, located adjacent to the exit door from the Air Terminal Building in the Arrivals area. The other is located close to the centre of the Airport Terminal Building in the main public telephone bank.
  • The TTY telephones are for call out only.

Wayfinding

  • The standard interior lighted signage is black symbols on white background while the non-lighted signage is white symbols on black background.

Relieving Areas For Service Animals

  • Relieving areas are available outside the Airport Terminal Building in the grassed area.

Washrooms

  • Washrooms in the Arrivals and Departures areas will undergo construction and/or upgrading in order to make them fully accessible by early 2006.

Description of Service: Offers full wheelchair accessible transportation service. The company requires to be contacted prior to arrival, as they do not serve the airport on a regular basis. To avoid delays, arrangements should be made preferably 24 hours or more in advance.

Description of Service: Company has the concession rights to provide taxi service for the airport and meets all scheduled flights. They can provide service to people with all disabilities except those using powered wheelchairs.

Name of Service Provider: Donna's Transport Ltd.
Telephone: (902) 436-3394
Description of Service: Provides accessible transportation using wheelchair compatible vans. 24 hour advance notice preferable. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. year round. Services the areas of Charlottetown and Summerside.
