This resolution deals with many issues that are important to Canada; particularly, stronger actions to combat illegal fishing and protect straddling fish stocks. Canada og Norge nære allierte i fiskerispørsmål Canadas fiskeriminister Loyola Hearn var nylig på besøk i Norge, der han bl.a. møtte fiskeriminister Helga Pedersen og andre nøkkelpersoner for norsk fiskeri- og havbruksnæring. Hearn og Pedersen ønsker å bygge videre på det vellykkede samarbeidet mellom Norge og Canada, både når det gjelder forvaltning av fiskebestander i åpent hav og trygging av bærekraftig fiske på det nasjonale plan. This Memorandum of Understanding will allow Canadians and Norwegians between the ages of 18 and 35 to to engage in short-term employment, complete internships and co-operative education work terms, and to participate in working holidays in each of our countries. Det LØNNer seg Norges avtroppende langrennssjef Bjørnar Håkensmoen fikk 7400 bokser med lønnesirup av det canadiske folk som takk for at han hjalp Canada til OL-sølv i sprintstafett. Nå skal alle boksene med lønnesirup gis til det norske folk via arrangementer med Hurtigruten.
