The vision of Canada’s ITS Plan is to stimulate the deployment of ITS technologies across urban and rural Canada to maximize the use and efficiency of existing infrastructure and to meet future transportation needs more responsibly. To this end, the federal government currently provides support for strategic ITS deployment and integration to lever complementary public and private sector investment in model ITS applications. Transport Canada is implementing this vision through a combination of competitive calls for proposals, provincial and territorial bilateral agreements, and targeted initiatives with a national focus.
