Transport Canada, in collaboration with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, held
public consultation sessions to provide information on its study to assess the risk of
accidental oil spills off the south coast of Newfoundland over the next 10 years.
Information obtained in the study is being used in the review of Canada's Marine Oil Spill
Preparedness and Response Regime. The area of study has been set as the entire
south coast of Newfoundland, between Cape St. Francis (east near St. John's) and
Cape Ray (west near Port aux Basques), including Placentia Bay to the 50-mile limit.
The report on these public consultation sessions is available by selecting this link.
