    The Department of Industry, along with its agency FedNor, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities agency, Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions, Western Economic Diversification Canada and Fondation ConceptArt multimédia (hereafter referred to as the “CommunAction Partners”) are committed to respecting the personal privacy of Canadians. This page summarizes the privacy policy and practices of the CommunAction Web site.
    • The CommunAction Web site does not automatically gather any specific personal information from you (e.g. your name, phone number or e-mail address). We would only obtain this type of information if you supply it to us in correspondence, by e-mail or through a registration process at a secure area of our Web site.

    • All personal information created, held or collected by the CommunAction Partners is protected under the Privacy Act. This means that you will be asked for your consent before we collect any personal information, you will be informed of the purpose for which the information is being collected and you will be informed of your right to access and review the information after it has been collected.

    • At the CommunAction Web site, we employ software programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information or cause mischief or create wilful damage or harm. This software receives and records the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the computers that contact our Web site, the date and time of the visit and the pages visited. We make no attempt to link these addresses with the identity of individuals visiting our site unless an attempt to damage the site or disrupt service has been detected.

    • The CommunAction Web site does not use "cookies". A "cookie" is a file that may be placed on your hard drive without your knowledge by a Web site to allow it to monitor your use of the site.

    • Information about individual visitors is used only by the CommunActions Partners’ employees and only for the purpose of responding to information requests or requests for assistance or to ensure the security of this Web site. We only share the information you give us with another government department if your inquiry relates to that department. We do not use the information to create individual profiles, nor do we disclose this information to anyone outside the federal government.


    For statistical purposes only, we automatically collect the following information when you visit our Web site:
    • the name of your Internet service provider, the name of your service provider's server and your IP address;
    • the length of each visit;
    • the number of page requests per visit;
    • your operating system type (Windows, Macintosh, Unix, etc.); and
    • your browser type (Netscape, Internet Explorer, etc.).


    The CommunAction Partners make no attemps to link this information to the identity of individuals visiting our Web site. We would not link this information with any other information you may voluntarily provide to us without explicitly notifying you.

    Official Languages
