Meet the Deputy Minister
Ms. Suzanne Tining Executive Director and Deputy Head Indian Residential Schools Resolution Canada
Suzanne Tining, currently Associate Deputy Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, takes on the additional responsibility of Executive Director and Deputy Head, Office of Indian Residential Schools Resolution of Canada, effective May 29, 2006.
Prior to her appointment as Associate Deputy Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, Ms. Tining was a Visiting Executive with EnCana Corporation, Canada's largest oil and gas producer, through an innovative public-private sector exchange initiative. From January 2002 to December 2003, she worked with Canada Economic Development Agency for Québec regions as the Assistant Deputy Minister, Policy, Planning, and Information initially and then Assistant Deputy Minister, Operations.
After a career spanning over 20 years at Transport Canada, she left her position as Regional Director General for Quebec regions in November 1997 to serve as Director of Operations in the Social Policy Secretariat and subsequently the Economic Policy Secretariat of the Privy Council Office.
She then worked in the field of communications as the Assistant Executive Director of Planning, Research and Regional Coordination, from 1999 till
2001 at the Canada Information Office, later known as Communication Canada.
