Program Objectives

point To work with former students, families and communities in support of projects that promote healing and reconciliation.
 
point To move cases away from the courts and into other methods of dispute resolution that are faster and less painful for the individuals.
 
point To resolve claims in a more timely fashion, though where necessary, we also represent the Government of Canada in litigation.
 
point To liaise with federal departments, provincial governments, Aboriginals, churches and other interested groups in implementing the federal government's wider objectives of healing and reconciliation.
 
point To inform and educate Canadians about the impacts of Indian residential schools.
 
point To work with church organizations to reach an agreement concerning their shared liability to compensate victims of sexual and physical abuse.
