What to Look for Checklist

______ A job-oriented program that focuses on achieving long-term employment for participants
______ A program that has been developed with Aboriginal input
______ A thorough needs assessment component to ensure that training is matched to both employer and employee needs
______ Use of prior learning assessments and acceptance of equivalencies
______ Development of a formal training plan for each participant
______ A program that can include, if appropriate, life skills and workplace awareness training for participants
______ A program that has a formal work experience component
______ Use of Aboriginal role models and mentors
______ Other support services that may be important to some participants, such as child care
______ Participant monitoring, assessment and feedback
______ Evaluation reports demonstrating positive results
