Access to Information and Privacy


The Access to Information and Privacy Unit is responsible for the implementation and administration of the Access to Information and Privacy Acts. It ensures that legislative and central agency policies and procedures are adhered to, on behalf of the Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Coordinator, and senior management of Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.

  • It processes and maintains a record of all requests for information and responses provided.

  • It acts as the authoritative point of contact for all questions pertinent to the Access to Information and Privacy Acts

  • It advises program officials on the collection, use and disclosure of personal information
