Two New Members Appointed to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Tourism Commission

OTTAWA, November 15, 2006 — The Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), today appointed Ms. Gina Hodge-Noordhof and Mr. David Lindsay as members of the CTC's Board of Directors.

"Ms. Hodge-Noordhof and Mr. Lindsay have established themselves in the tourism industry through their respective work," said Minister Bernier. "Their diverse backgrounds will have a positive impact on the CTC as the Board develops new initiatives to market Canada as a four-season destination."

Gina Hodge-Noordhof is the owner of the Norseman Restaurant and Gaia Art Gallery in L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland and Labrador. She established the restaurant and art gallery in 1994. Ms. Hodge-Noordhof is active in her community, serving on the boards of Norstead Village Inc., the Historic Sites Association of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Viking Trail Tourism Association. In 2004, she was the recipient of the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs of the year award, which recognizes successful female entrepreneurs for their important contributions to the economy of Newfoundland and Labrador.

David Lindsay is currently the Deputy Minister of Tourism for Ontario. Prior to this he was President and CEO of the Association of Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology of Ontario. He has also held the positions of President and CEO for the Ontario SuperBuild Corporation and for the Ontario Jobs and Investment Board.
