Transport Canada

Transportation is essential to our well-being. Canadians need a reliable, safe and sustainable transportation system to connect our communities, and to connect us with our trading partners.

Transport Canada works to help ensure that Canadians have the best transportation system by developing and administering policies, regulations and programs for a safe, efficient and environmentally friendly transportation system; contributing to Canada's economic growth and social development; and, protecting the physical environment.

Transport Canada is the federal government department responsible for most of the transportation policies, programs and goals set by the Government of Canada to ensure that the national transportation system is safe, efficient and accessible to all its users. The department's vision statement is to have a transportation system in Canada that is recognized worldwide as safe and secure, efficient and environmentally responsible. Our mission is to serve the public interest through the promotion of a safe and secure, efficient and environmentally responsible transportation system in Canada.
