Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must fully demonstrate in their application that they meet all of the minimum qualifications.

Education:

  • Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position or eligibility for certification as a professional engineer in Canada with specialization in an engineering specialty relevant to the position

Experience:

Significant and recent experience in one or more of the following aeronautical engineering discipline related to the functions of the positions:

  • Project Management
  • Continuing Airworthiness
  • Delegations and Quality
  • Aircraft Structures
  • Avionics and Electrical Systems
  • Electronic Equipment Design Assurance
  • Fuel and Hydromechanical Systems
  • Occupant Safety and Environmental Systems
  • Powerplants and Emissions
  • Regulatory Standards

Citizenship:

Preference will be given to Canadian citizens. Functions:

The Regulatory Standards Division is headed by the Chief, Regulatory Standards who reports to the Director, Aircraft Certification. The Division is composed of three sections and a Technical Reference Centre. There are five major areas of activity, each covering one major segment of the Canadian aviation regulatory needs.

Division activities include: evaluating the applicability and effectiveness of current Canadian regulatory documents; reviewing and assessing foreign requirements for incorporation into the Canadian regulations; analyzing Transportation Safety Board recommendations; and, proposing changes to regulations and standards to improve aviation safety.

Division engineers participate in international harmonization committees and working groups, research issues affecting environmental impact, cabin safety, etc.; participate in the development and implementation of various bilateral arrangements established with foreign countries; and, develop advisory material and policies related to current standards.

About the Organization:

Senior Engineers (Policies and Procedures) at Transport Canada work within the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Safety and Security Group. The Civil Aviation headquarters directorate determines program contents, policy and standards, while the regions deliver the program. Within the Aircraft Certification Branch of the Civil Aviation Directorate, the Regulatory Standards Division is responsible for the development and maintenance of the regulatory standards and advisory material necessary to support the Aircraft Certification Branch and the Canadian industry in the Type Certification of aeronautical products. The Division consists primarily of three main sections: Policies and Procedures, Domestic Regulations, and International Regulations.
