Our Gateway application lets you order or download scanned mineral exploration assessment reports, scanned petroleum reports (well history reports, and geological and geophysical reports), and digital versions of our publications. It includes a shopping cart, for saving selected reports (or files from within reports). You can go back to your cart days or weeks later to download or order what you saved there.

There are two ways to access Gateway. One way is to do a search in the NORMIN Reference Query (go to http://www.nwtgeoscience.ca/normin and select Reference Query) to determine which reports interest you. From the results screen, you can download one or more entire reports or add them to your cart. (You can also view or download metadata reports on the results of your query.) However, you can't access individual folders or files from the NORMIN side. As well, some results in NORMIN are not distributed by us (e.g. GSC publications; Nunavut assessment reports), therefore they will show up in the Reference Query results but you will not be able to download them or add them to your cart.

The other way to access Gateway is to go directly to the Gateway Reference Browser (http://www.nwtgeoscience.ca/gateway) and pick an item from each of a series of drop-down lists until you get to a listing of individual reports (such as assessment reports, or EGS Open Files). At this point you can Download or Add To Cart, just as you can from NORMIN. In addition, you can click the plus sign next to a report, and explore further to see the names of the folders and files that make up the digital version of that report. You can then select individual files to download or add to your cart. Please note that you cannot view these files until you have downloaded and unzipped them.

Remember, the shopping cart provides options for ordering documents. Very large downloads may take an extremely long time during which nothing appears to be happening, and download requests containing over 1000 files may fail. Such items can be ordered through the cart, in either paper or digital format. The cart, like the Browser, also provides the ability to drill down through the folders of a report and select individual files for download or order.

We have endeavoured to make this site user friendly. If you do not find it so, please get back to us right away at ntgo@gov.nt.ca.
