Family Health

Families, as the heart of a community, play an important role in encouraging and maintaining healthy lifestyles. Health Canada has several programs to help First Nations people and Inuit to improve the health of their families, such as the:

We support Aboriginal people in their efforts to design action plans and activities that provide their preschool children with a positive sense of themselves, a desire for learning, and opportunities to develop fully and successfully as young people.

We also work with First Nations and Inuit health representatives to develop research and create policies, guidelines and procedures that help families stay healthy.
