View of the new Embassy from Leipziger Platz New presence for Canada in Berlin - On April 29, 2005, Canada has officially opened a new building designed to house Canada ’s Embassy in Berlin, Germany. Located in the heart of the city, the Embassy has been designed and built to reflect Germany ’s importance to Canada as a G8 partner and a central player in the European Union. The building mirrors the diversity and distinctiveness of Canada ’s regions through the use of a variety of materials from different Canadian regions.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is pleased to offer - in cooperation with science organizations in North America and Germany - undergraduate students from the US and Canada in the fields of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Sciences and Engineering to apply for a summer research internship in Germany. RISE summer placements are provided by German university research groups where the trainee will cooperate with a doctoral student and assist him/her in his/her experimental work. Innovation Nation Films at Northwest PassageInnovation Nation: Winning Films
August 2004 - The Canadian Embassy in Berlin announces the three winning films in its competition "Canada. The Innovation Nation", to which young filmmakers from various film schools all across Canada have contributed. The first prize has been given to Brian Joseph Davis for his film "Arrival", the second prize was awarded to Karina Griffith and Chris Ikonomopoulos for "Confessions", and the third prize to Coryn Kempster for "Motion Study". Honorary Mention was given to Bruce Alcock for "Wrong Number Phone Message", Dan Sokolowski "Lightyear" and Will Kwan "Don't Toe the Line". The films will be screened in the Northwest Passage of the Embassy, which will open in early 2005.
